Half eaten dinner. We found out that the steaks we were planning to have for dinner basically liquified when they thawed, so it was a scramble to pull together whatever we could. Thus, a stir fry with rice, green beans, carrots, peas, meatballs, and peanut sauce :-) quite tasty #food #noms

It's been a long day in Rochester… Trying to set up for a party on top of a night of practically no sleep leaves me kinda cranky. Oh well. The scenery is worth it I guess. :-)

All the things...
Bring on some bullet point updates!
- I rode 25 miles on my bike yesterday. I’m feeling it this morning. Uffda
- I got paid today, so I’m done being absolutely flat broke. That is miserable, let me tell ya…
- Thank you for the kind words I received regarding this post. I’m really having fun doing something I enjoy again, even though it’s not necessarily always yoga.
- Thanks to Dicy and Bethany I am now just $5 away from my goal for fundraising! If you have a few bucks to spare, head on over to my page. The ride is next weekend, and I’m going to be doing as much riding as possible early this next week to get ready.
- I am about to start a new knitting project that I am quite excited about because it’s for Wesley. Because he is a guy, it’s hard to find knitted things that he will entertain the idea of wearing, but I found the book Knits Men Want at the library and he was intensely interested in the hat pattern contained within. Thus, I am about to embark on my first project using double pointed needles, so wish me luck!
- Today Wesley and I are headed down to his parents’ RV in Rochester, where the interwebs is spotty at best. Thus, I doubt I will be posting much until we return on Sunday. I’ll still be lurking around, but I will have to do so on my phone which is a pain in the butt to write things on.
Alright, I’m going to get back to my morning hydration routine, cast on the first row of the hat, and then do some Pilates and belly dance. Have a delightful Friday everyone!

I biked 11 miles to my mother's office, then we went out to Lake Calhoun and around the lake and back, which brought me to 25 total miles biked today. Oof
Letting Go: I think if yoga is not serving you, you should set it aside for a while. Yoga is not meant to be a physical mastering of postures. True yoga is our union with the best part of ourselves, and sometimes that means giving up whatever isn't serving us - and that might be your physical practice, for now. If yoga is your path, it will call you back.
Thank you! I think this is maybe the message I was trying to convey last night, but I just couldn't string together the right words. :-)
Letting go?
I have lots of writing to catch up, which I am hoping to do tomorrow. For now, though, here’s a thought I have to get out of my head:
How do you let go/move on from a dream that isn’t serving you?
Why am I asking this? Because lately I’ve been moving on from a super cereal, every day yoga practice. I don’t know, it’s just not working for me right now. I’m not excited to do yoga most days, so I don’t.
However, I have recently become very excited about belly dance. Sure, I suck at it, but it makes me feel good about myself, which yoga never really did. Belly dance is something that I really want to devote time to so that someday I can be kinda good at it.
The fact is that I’m not just going to drop yoga and never do it again. I did some today. But it feels very different when I’m doing it to supplement something else and I don’t feel pressured to do it every day.
At the same time, it’s hard to let go of wanting to do the kind of yoga poses I see on here and instagram. I know that if I really wanted to do them, I would be willing to put in the time to get better, so obviously it’s not a deep desire, just my ego being whiney. Still, I’m not really sure how to “move on” from being a hardcore yogi… :-P
Sorry if that was a bit tough to follow. I’m very tired. But I wanted to get those thoughts out, so yeah…

I ran out of the lime green yarn I was using as edging on my other crochet hippo, so until I can get some more I'm going to work on hippo number 2, this time in cotton with a bit tamer colors :-) #diy #crafts #crochet #yarn #handmade #happypotomus #hippo
Help me raise money to battle multiple sclerosis!
Bear with me - I’m going to be reposting this every day for the next week or so, until I reach my minimum…
Hi everyone! This year I will be participating in my second MS150, which is a 150 mile bike ride over two days, from Duluth to White Bear Lake, MN. Riders are required to fundraise a minimum of $300 before the race, thought my goal is $500. What I didn’t realize is that if I want to check-in for the event early through my mother’s work (I ride with her team), I need to have that minimum met by Tuesday. Yikes!
Thus, I would like to ask for your help. If you can help at all, it would be greatly appreciated. If I could get 32 $5 donations, that would get me to my minimum. That’s 32 people deciding to support research to end a debilitating disease for which we have no cure and little options for treatment instead of having a fancy coffee drink for one day. A small sacrifice for one person, but each little bit adds up so much.
You might be wondering why I care so much and why I’m willing to ride 150 miles to raise money for MS research. While it is a good test of my physical abilities, that’s really secondary for me. My father has multiple sclerosis (I might have mentioned this before) and has for my entire life. It is a progressive, degenerative disease where the body starts to attack the myelin sheaths that surround nerve fibers. In normal people speak, that means that the nerve signals going between his muscles and his brain don’t always travel the way there are supposed to. Sometimes they get lost along the way, and this leads to poor balance and muscle control, as well as weakness, shaking, lack of endurance, and pain/loss of feeling in the limbs. I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw my father riding a bike because he just can’t. He has to very carefully budget how he spends his available energy throughout the day, because he has a small fraction of what the rest of us have. If you know someone with a chronic illness, you have probably seen how difficult this can be for someone.
If you can help, please head over to my page and make a donation. If that’s not in the cards for you, that’s cool too. I would also love if you could send positive thoughts my way on June 8-9, since riding 150 miles is no joke and I’m sure I will have a very sore butt for a few days after. :-P
